The moon and you

Often it is much easier said than done
To accept the changes around you
Accept them graciously as a part of fun
For life which hates being a dead heartbeat

Meet new crossroads and fresh intersections
Pause for a while, think, re-evaluate, decide
Choose between the paths new and old ones
With the fear of guilt that cloud the dark gray sky above

The flickering quivering lights on the street
Make you wonder if this is a signal or a sign
To add the ups and downs to a live heartbeat
And then you question since when you adopted superstitions

You are running out this invaluable time
Dawn is so close, make up your mind quick
Wasting this moment, nothing is a bigger crime
A position where no regret can be afforded

You see far, try to envision what it will be like
A small source of illumination is all you see
But the same on the counterpart, you lose your psyche
It seems *exactly* the same, what will you do now?

Nothing seems the same, nothing at all, none
Even the stars have lost their shine
And one by one, the journey its companions
But this delta is the only motivation long lost

Just to keep your heart reassured, you want that one thing
Which tells you things haven’t changed, it’s just an illusion
And that’s when you looked up in the sky, to gaze
At the moon which was, has been and will be the only constant

Rumbling and Moaning

Rumbling and moaning each part of her body pained
Hands weary of the vessels she scraped
Feet rugged skin blue cold, even as she whimpered
The noises only squelched the energy already drained

Deep sunk into her hard coiled mattress
She felt the burden of the earth rest on her shoulder
She perhaps needed another arm to rest hers
To provide her slender figure with warm buttress

While her kernel coalesced to desperate rest
Her mind was free to wander on its way
Nonchalant of the worries to come the next day
The inner most self was at its happiest best

She dreamt about the things her body would crave
Her skin could already feel the orange sun's warmth
As her eye painted a serenity descended from heaven
There stood victorious over melancholy, her spirits brave

The unwavering force of her head stretched leaps and bounds
Until the chirping birds ignited the dawn
The physical self summoned her unrestricted soul
Rumbling and moaning into her body, her spirits drowned

A whisk of bad

Apparently I'm good, Humble I am
Selfless, zealous and perfect
Not too far fetched
To address me as

Oh I loved the attention
The envy the love and care
My name on everyone's lips
Who wouldn't dream of that

But lately I've come to realize
Of the devil in me
Who only thinks of I, me, myself
Unlike the world presumes me to be

This perception is new
Unknown to the rest
Still dawning upon me
As I think more about it
I start fearing the evil inside

Is it that bad
My intentions so wrong
What all happened
To the genuine feelings I once had

Oh or wait
Am I still the same, same old me
What if it is those people
Who started expecting much more of me

Ah I lay in a mess
To messy to be cleaned
Thoughts cluttered and the heart
Dominated by the malign side of me

All I have to do is identify
Locate it and give a slow kill
The venom will destroy the poison
To get back the original me

With the passage of time
I will defeat that demon
Its my own soul
Who'd make a better killer

Its not gonna be easy
I am going to that road
A whisk of bad it is
But it is still what complete me

When he built his own firewall

Intentions of a child they say are harmless
Innocent, the kid feels the same way
His heart feels fearless; it is so safe, no deep sorrows
At least doesn't know how to experience pain as we may

Alas he is hit hard the first time he was cheated, selfish was defined
What reward on earth could make his best friend betray him?
Far too young, the world is yet left to be seen
His days have just begun with the lights too dim

With the rising kicks of agony and traumatic defeats
He gears himself up as he enters his teen
The tender heart of his moulds a thin membrane
He needs to grow strong for he knows his friends can be mean

It was that phase of life when infatuation seemed love
Girls came, bonded in a relationship that eventually broke
The scars on his shield started getting profound
This journey of life seemed no longer a joke

Even when life ditched him on all levels his faith dangled
Suspended on a feeble string held by very few people around
Sentiment protection layer high for he knew life was always up for a game
One snip and his emotions will perhaps shatter on the ground

Exactly as he predicted was what happened to him
Emotionally drained, he couldn't even remember how to cry
Alone is what I have, he thought, alone will protect me
I will pass through all days of the rain - floods or dry

Adult as he is called now, he built himself a firewall
With no way in, it was a firewall tougher than the toughest steel
No sword can pierce through no matter what
And those hypocrites call him cold, frigid and a man without any zeal.

The struggle begins

I saw him pour iron in the mould
He chose nothing but the best Valerian steel
As he waited for the glazing red to turn cold
Deep down he knew there was a war coming

So I ran home, gathered all the courage I could
Looked for all the words of wisdom
And found as many that could do me good
Just like him, I saw my own little war coming

He practiced all day, he practiced all night
Clanked his sword with the best of men
Until every attack he made, hit right
After all fighting his own father won't be easy

Inspired I knew, I too had it in me
Wiped my tears, sat before the mirror
A pen, piece of paper and those words had to be
"That's it. I will say a NO today"

He put on his armor, held his shield
Despite no one by his emotional side
He had to be strong and not give up or yield
In his head, he told himself, its now, the struggle begins

I have a reason, a valid explanation
Closed my eyes, took a deep breath in
I could see my hero whisper to me in slow motion
"All the best my warrior, the struggle now begins.."

Worries of a Woman

I feel scared. Scared of those eyes.
They penetrate right into mine
Should I look away? Or should I stare back, pretending fearless?
For god's sake, take those shameless eyes off me.

What, now I cannot even wear knee length jeans?
Why do they make the decent piece of clothing look so disgusting?
Is it really my fault that I want to look beautiful
Or is it their filthy morals that should be blamed?

I hesitate. Unlike before.
Think hundred times before you take that stranger's help
He could be too good to be true.
Maa, is this what being independent meant?

How does it matter if I am his daughter's age
Or maybe a grand-daughter for some
Crime has no ethics, does it?
Old or young, all have the license to evil.

Turn to the newspaper today. Now.
My bet : Every third item you read will be crime.
Not just crime, crime against women.
Rape. Harassment. Dowry. Acid. Femicide. 'Honor Killing'

Frightens me so that I be cautioned.
Makes me sit in the 'Reserved for Ladies' seat only.
Tells me that I need to reach home before 9.
Gives me enough reason to confuse restrictions with safety.

As I lay awake on my bed, there are things I never will forget
Those memories which instill fear in me,which weaken me
But think good, good will happen. So I try let it go
Like a computer, I press the delete button and wipe off those slimy memories.

After what seems like forever, sleep slowly creeps in
Yet those pictures revolve, revoking the fear in me
The silence of the dark is cut by the clock ticking loud
And the question haunts, Am I safe in my own house?

When redundancy strikes..

There was a time when ideas were new
They only meant to be nurtured and brewed
Look around, what do you see?
A chaotic clueless crazy crowd
"Big Daddy" is what all are trying to be

I was so naive and gladly joined one
Contributing to the rat race I was taking my run
Turn my back, and what do I see?
A ravenous rapacious rampant rabble
Waiting to outrun and eventually vanquish me

Why so serious? What's the big deal?
What's in name, what's in the stamp and seal?
Splash some water and what do I see?
A serious senseless shortsighted swarm
Working for ego - the smallest possible fee

We could work together, united make it large
But we chose to get a separate power, our own charge
Open my eyes and what do I see?
A pretentious pompous phony pack
Whatever it will be, their ego will be

That's exactly when redundancy strikes
Nobody cares about what the mass likes
I gather myself from the mess, what do I see?
A floating frantic frenzied flock
Hence they duplicate in order to dodge the mock

Perhaps there people just like me and you
Not liking the artificial bizarre few
Lets get together, what can we hope to see?
A lustrous legitimate logical lot
Who fought the shrewd legacy and harmony was bought

It has almost been a year...

// Although my first hand at poetry, would appreciate honest views :))

It has almost been a year since I have seen you
Or even said a casual "Hi, hello how do you do?"

...

You told me I was charming
And when you went gaga over my eyes
Remembering those days
Deep down inside my heart cries

...

When I think of all those wonderful times
Those same eyes shed a tear
How do I tell this to you
I miss you a lot my dear

...

Every night before going to bed,
I still listen to your favourite Annie's Song,
Wish you were right beside me
That is just what I long

...

I may not be perfect
Maybe many qualities that I lack;
But believe me I still love you,
And hence I want you back

...

When I am feeling low
Or as I am walking alone
If I hear a ring, I think it's you
And rush towards my phone

...

As the night is falling
As upon my bed I lay;
I have a fear instilled
Your face in my memory might just fade away

...

It has almost been a year since I have heard from you...
